We offer services for horses of all disciplines.
We always have a wide variety of horses and ponies come to stay with us and we are more than happy to take on any type of horse. With the use of Bens wealth of experience dealing with many different types of horses and problems, we are able to offer breaking and remedial work from the smallest pony to the largest horse.
Having worked on various racing and breaking yards over the years, Ben Lund has broken and ridden many difficult horses and gained a reputation of getting the best out of problem horses. His patient, understanding approach to each individual horse, alongside his wealth of experience and knowledge enables results with horses many would give up on. Our services include:
Remedial / Problem Behaviour
Horse and Rider Confidence Building
Producing and bringing on Young Stock
Our philosophy is to leave no stone unturned and to pay attention to detail when it comes to breaking in and starting young horses. We believe laying the correct foundations when working with these horses and allowing them to progress at the correct speed builds a well mannered, enjoyable ride with a solid understanding and workability. This in turn creates a horse that can continue to progress into any sphere in the future.
Unfortunately, too many horses are 'broken' incorrectly, which can cause issues further down the line for both horse and rider. Many miss out on vital steps during their initial training, and this can create all sorts of problems as the horse matures and starts to experience more complex riding techniques, potentially causing vices or inappropriate behaviour which can then become a more difficult problem to fix.
We very often take on horses with behavioural issues, and always insist that prior to a horses arrival with us that they are thoroughly checked over physically to rule out any injury or problem area that could be causing pain. It is vitally important that reaction to pain is ruled out before any horse is taken on for problem behaviour.
Ben has always ensured all horses and ponies that come to him to be broken follow a professional, traditional regime, combined with a calm and understanding approach which is very important when working with young animals. No horse is rushed through their training, and results come at a pace suited to each horse as an individual, so we are not able to give a specific time scale for your horses stay with us. We have had many young horses visit us to start their education and are one of the leading breaking yards in the South West.
We are always taking bookings for this type of work, understanding every horse is different and creating a programme tailored to meet each individuals needs. Our Facebook page is regularly updated as we find this a fantastic way to showcase our work, and there are often photos and videos of the day to day progress of horses and ponies that come to stay with us, along with some fantastic comments from very happy owners, and updates on horses that have gone off to have very succesful ridden careers following their time with us.
